Four-year-old Arjun’s one true wish is for an outdoor playzone where he can explore his love for diggers.
Arjun was diagnosed with leukaemia at just seven months old and has been undergoing treatment for most of his life. Arjun's fascination with diggers began when he spotted the Fulton Hogan crews working in his neighbourhood - using their large excavators and trucks in construction and road work.
Arjun would insist that his mum stop on the side of the road so he could watch all the action.
Make A Wish NZ sourced the ultimate playzone for Arjun, complete with a ground-level sandpit for lots of digging and construction play. Our fundraising partner MICO assisted with the construction of the playhouse.
While the playzone was being put together, the kind folks at Fulton Hogan hosted Arjun at their site where he learnt about making concrete, and mastered the skills of moving dirt in the stockpiles - he was even able to climb up into the loader of the excavator!
Arjun was also gifted his very own mini excavator to take home and start digging in his new sandpit.
